    Welcome!

    Good evening!

COACH BRIGHT HERE!!!      I wanted to take a moment and reach out and welcome everyone to the 2024 Summer Season!  I am super excited to be joining this amazing program!  I've only met some of you so far but look forward to meeting everyone soon!

Our first swim test date last Saturday was a success.  Testing Date #2 is this coming Saturday from 2-4pm.  If you find yourself in an unusual situation where you have a rookie swimmer and unable to attend, please reach out to me.  As we are starting on Monday, basically every day of practice can be an additional testing opportunity if needed!!   Email me in the morning if possible!

Some of the following information has already been shared- but I wanted to make sure it was fresh in your mind!  :)

    First Day of Practice:

Please bring the swimmer's gear if you have already secured it; it is okay if you don't have everything right away, but please have at least a solid set of goggles for practice on Day 1.

Early on the focus will be on having a kickboard and a pair of "swim fins" ASAP.....

Goggles: competitive goggles ( Speedo Junior Vanquisher, etc) that fit well make all of the difference!!!  Leaky goggles will potentially disrupt a swimmer's ability to keep their face in the water and then the entire stroke often goes to pieces!

Hair: Any hair that isn't tied back and/or capped properly will interfere with effective breathing.  Caps aren't mandatory, but in many cases- they can make the difference between a successful practice session and one that can be problematic.  Practice caps are readily available at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

SWIMOUTLET.COM can also be a good resource for swim equipment, practice suits, etc.  TEAM SUITS SHOULD BE SAVED FOR COMPETITION DAYS!!!

Water: A well-hydrated athlete performs the best!!!

As many of you know, the first few days of practice may call for patience.  Literally half of the squad is new this year and the first week back in the water is an exciting time! Hopefully, water temps will continue to improve.  Some of our youngest may not make it the entire 45 min session as they acclimate to temps and "working out."

During a practice session, please minimize conversations with coaches etc as our focus on the pool is paramount.  Some of our age groups are quite large!!!  We will be working a lot of fundamentals early on!  Expect moments of random goofiness as we look for opportunities to make practice fun!

I will typically arrive before the first group for questions, and be available after the last group as well. E-mailing questions is also a good avenue- and there is no such thing as a bad question.  Please make sure we are aware of any medical issues, any past negative pool experiences, or any other pertinent information.

It isn't necessary to attend every practice, or advise us if missing a session.  We all know the last five weeks of the school year can be a very hectic time.  Come as often as you can for best results!

Expect a lot of information to start heading your way as we get this season into full gear!!  See you on deck soon!!  ............ Coach Bright
